Merry meet All,
Imbolc is here! I bet you are excited and planning your solitary or coven rituals. I hope you all have lots of fun while doing them. I am sending Imbolc blessings to you all. I hope you read these posts and found them helpful as you planned your rituals. Or maybe you like to be spontaneous and do on the spot rits and no planning is necessary. That is okay, too, you can do whatever works for you. The point is to have fun!
You can honour Brigid by making a corn doll or using one that you already own, making her a Brigid’s bed, and performing a ritual in her honour. If you live in Halifax, a public Imbolc ritual will be held at the Universalist Unitarian church on 5500 Inglis Street at 6:30 pm tomorrow night.
Brigid is not the only deity who is popular this month. Hestia, in the Greek/ Roman tradition, can be honored this month too. Hestia guarded the hearth and home. She was the ancient Greek hearth goddess. Light a candle or your fireplace in her honour. The candle or fire warmed the hearth and home.
The Imbolc cross quarter day is on February 4th. The Sun reaches fifteen degrees Aquarius. The Chinese New Year slithers its way on the day of Sunday, February 10th. Mardi Gras occurs on February 12th. And we all know Valentine’s Day will be warming hearts- not mine, I hate V-Day, on February 14th. On February 18th, the Celtic tree month of Ash begins. The Full moon shines on February 25th. There is lots to look forward to.
Today the sun is shining and the snow is melting. Spring is not far away. Do you all have your seed catalogues? Now is the time to plan because snowdrops and crocuses will thrust their green heads out of the stubborn soil to herald spring. My orchid bloomed on my windowsill. The flowers are so beautiful.
Many Imbolc blessings,
