Winter Solstice

Tree

Merry meet all,

It’s still Samhain. I personally prefer Samhain over Yule. The Winter Solstice is also a fun Sabbat to celebrate. Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year and is a celebration of the return of the sun.

The Full Moon occurs on December 25th. I plan to perform the esbat on Dec.24th. I often take Dec.25th as a day to relax. Either way, it is a magickally powerful time for a Full Moon.

The Winter Solstice has been honoured worldwide for thousands of years by many different cultures. The dark  half of the year from December to March is a difficult time for people. People sometimes suffer from seasonal depression because of the sun’s absence. Some cultures like the Romans celebrated Saturnalia to welcome the sun’s return.

I shall post more here about how to celebrate Yule!!

Blessings, Lady Spiderwitch
