Merry meet all,
I had a ton of fun at the Once Upon a Fairy Tale Faire. I dressed as the Lavender Fairy. I suffered it out in a corset, the costume and wings. I absolutely loved the Faire.I had the most wonderful time.
I was sorted by the Sorting Hat (same one as at Hogwarts0. I got Hufflepuff. I then set out on having fun and wreaking mischief, though I had a lot of the former, not the latter… well….
So I set out to see the different vendor’s pretty wares ok some scary. There were great swords too heavy for me to lift, fudge for me to sample (mm), costumes, jewels, elf ears, leather wares, deer and horse skulls, herbal teas, Mad Hatter Tea Parties, and so many other wonderful treasures. They were all made possible because of the crafts people’s dedication. There was a huge castle made of balloons, yup I know, a large, mock fencing tournaments, and lectures about the herb mandrake, having faeries in your home. It was so much fun.
I bumped into Cathy Kempton, my first witchcraft mentor, and a few other people I knew. I was delighted to see her again. This kid walked in and wanted to know where the faires were- so the father asked me. Yup I was a fairy. A lot of people loved my costume and even took pics of me. If they only knew how I suffered in it……
I got a beautiful fairy butterfly necklace, a vial of fairy dust, a fairy offering of a teapot and tiny tea cups, incense, herbal death teas, I sampled teas and fudges, and was even treated to tea and cakes by the Red Queen in the Mad hatter tea party – I got a ticket from soneone when I wasn’t supposed to have a ticket.!!!!!! I curtsied in front of the Red Queen!!!
i did collect biz cards. Good thing I didn’t have a $100 could easily have spent it there on such magical wonderful treasures. I took many pics. Doing it all over again next year. I loved every moment of the magial faire. I would do it all over again. I felt truly pretty and light with the wings and skirt. I fairy blessed everyone- my friends, children and some adults too.
There were many fairy homes made of moss and this stuff. I fairy blessed everyone. I had pizza and pop for lunch I Sure suffered in a corset and wings. What a time I had trying to sit in a chair or in my friend’s car or even get through a door way in wings. Oy or even sit on a toilet or even wrap my shawl around my shoulders. We visited Mike at work and we found out he wanted the glow in the dark ouija board. So we went back to the fairy event, bought it for him, and gave it to him at the witch shop. His grandmother forbid Mike to own one so we had to return it.
It was hard going in a costume. I leaned forward during rides in the car with wings on, I perched carefully in a chair at the fairy event, I tipped my wings way forward, put on my shawl and then stood up and got my wings back on my back and adjusted my shawl in the bathroom. Eventually I learned to remove the wings in the car on rides. I had two necklaces. When I got out of the wings, the wings caught on my crown twice and on my outfit. I had to get detangled. Ugh what a time. I would do it all over again.

Merry meet all,
Who besides me hates winter? Let’s see a showing of witch hats. Yeah I thought you would all agree. Last night’s full moon was the last of the dark winter full moons for the season. It gets exciting from here. Spring is on its way. So you can all breathe a sigh of relief. I am.
I think winter affects us in more ways than just seasonal affective disorder. I have not felt any inclination to do any magick at all. This is not like me. I do enjoy it. It could be because I live alone and never have any company for an esbat. It could be because it is hard to know if you are growing or not when you live alone. These things all contribute to how and when and if people perform magick. It certainly affects me. I performed a simple meditation last night. That is all I had the energy for.
Yet I managed to manifest a cat. It sounds like I need more confidence in myself and trust in myself. So I propose to try to have more confidence and trust in myself. I do suffer from anxiety and depression, which can take over your life. I usually try to not let this affect me. I have to keep thinking Spring is almost here. The Spring Equinox occurs later this month. Who couldn’t be cheered up that?
So I can assume that this depression I am going through could possibly by seasonal. Let’s hope so. By the way, I hope you all check out the amazing movie The Theory of Everything about Stephan Hawking. I watched that movie yesterday and I really enjoyed it. I was so engrossed in the movie I forgot about everything else. You will cheer for Stephan Hawking. He is inspirational.

Merry Meet All,
Calendula – Calendula officinalis
Today we are going to talk more about growing seeds. I have experienced the frustration and joys that most other gardeners probably already knew. Calendula is a seed that is very easy to grow. It is also known as pot marigold. It is an annual flower but if you save the seeds, you can grow more the following spring.
When I opened the packet of the mixed calendula seeds, I was surprised. They did not look like seeds to me. I was unperturbed and immediately planted them in soil in the seed tray. A day or two later, tiny sprouts emerged and I was like, wow! They germinate fast. This makes them an ideal flower to grow. I put the seeds in the spots very close to the surface of the soil and I did not drown them in soil. Sow the seeds 1/4 inch in the soil. That can hinder their growth. Start the seeds six to eight weeks prior to the frost. Sow them outdoors after the risk of frost is passed.
Calendula flowers are grown for their sunny colourful blooms. You can grow the seeds yourself and gain many benefits from this herbaceous flower. It will grow in almost any soil and prefers to receive tons of sunlight. I plan to grow calendula to deter pest insects from eating my tomatoes and pumpkin vines in my garden.
Calendula can grow in pots or right in the soil. You can grow the seeds indoors for an early spring planting. You will grow more calendula flowers if you deadhead the spent blossoms. That forces the plant into more growth of flowers. Calendula self-seeds and will grow like crazy in your garden. It likes to be well watered and to be composted. Also, consider starting seeds indoors to help it withstand the insects munching on it. When the plant is bigger, it can survive that.
Calendula is used in lotions, balms, and salves. Many people grow calendula for those purposes. Wait for the flowers to finish blooming and save the spent flowers to collect the seeds. Dry the flowers indoors well. Check for aphids on the undersides and stems of leaves before bringing indoors. You will know when they are dried when the flower head breaks apart easily. The seeds are big and spiny. These are the seeds. Save them and you will have enough to grow next spring or in the same season, if you wish. Calendula grows well in pots and makes a good cut flower.
The flowers are edible. The flowers are also made into balms and salves for healing.
